Saucony Pro-Grid Jazz 13 Running Shoe Review & The benefits of being ‘fitted’
Cheapest Retailer – Amazon.co.uk and Amazon.com
When I first started running I completely overlooked running shoes and invested just £35 in a pair of Nike Airs from TK Maxx – to me a trainer was a trainer and as long as it didn’t look too clumpy and featured a reputable brand name I was happy! It was only a year later when I was averaging 20 miles a week and beginning to feel discomfort when running that I began to question the support of my trainers and the potential impact they were having on my poor, aching calves and shins.
Choosing My Saucony Pro-Grid Jazz 13
I decided it was time to invest in a pair of ‘proper’ running shoes from a specialist retailer that would be able to provide me with the best fitting shoe for my running technique and distance. Up and Running in Birmingham did just that, first asking me to run on a treadmill whilst they filmed my feet to decipher my running style, then ‘prescribing’ me with two shoes that suited my neutral running style. Although I was very impressed with the friendly staff and the service provided at Up and Running I was disappointed with the selection of running shoes for women. In comparison to the men’s range there were very few and with just two styles to chose from I did feel a tad restricted.
How the Saucony Pro-Grid Hazz 13′s Beat My Old Running Shoes.
After trying both pairs on I decided to go for the Saucony Pro-grid Jazz 13 women’s shoe with foam sole and heel support. The difference in weight from my old Nike Airs was significant and instantly noticeable – these shoes were so light I almost felt my feet running away with me upon my first run in them! They were immediately comfy and I didn’t experience any problems with blisters or rubbing. The meshed top surface allowed my feet to breathe  and after just one week the aches and pains in my calves began to cease. I followed up the purchase of my Jazz 13′s  with a visit to my osteopath to check that they were suitable and that my legs were in ship shape for the 10K that I am currently training for (less than two weeks to go now!) He was impressed with them and a deep tissue massage sorted out the remainder on my aches with no pain at all since!

Thanks for the review on these shoes. I’ve been trying to get back into running, but have had all sorts of problems with shin splints. The doctor said shoes could be the problem, and I have tried Nikes and New Balance, but no luck. I’ll give these a whirl and see what happens. Thanks!
