A weekend of running, plus a new gadget

I headed back to my family home in Birmingham this weekend for the sister’s 20th and mothers 60th birthday celebrations. I decided to use up some holiday and so took the Friday off work with the aim of finally finishing some half baked reviews and getting some decent training done, as well as seeing some old school mates.

A speedy 10k on Friday turned into a 16k amble as seeing as I didnt have anything to rush back home for (for a change) it was nice to get out and re-explore my local village and neighbouring town.

After the 16k run I thought that I might be onto a weekend of serious training but my planned 2 hour cycle had to be aborted when I almost slipped under the wheels of a car due to a patch of black ice. I felt my back tyre completely lose traction as I rounded a corner at about 30 mph and just managed to somehow stay upright enough to control the bike around the back of the oncoming car before bailing into the verge. For some reason after that crash I wasnt really feeling the rest of the ride and limped home!

Then I tried to go for a swim at my local gym but realised at the last minute that I didnt have any kind of swimming gear with me so opted to head out for a cheeky 10k run instead.

This weekend was also the UK launch of the new Motorola MOTOACTV GPS watch and music player. I have been excited about this lunch for a while now as the MOTOACTV represents the next generation of GPS fitness trackers and has a massive array of cool and exciting features.

Motorola MOTOACVT Sweatshop Launch

The Motorola MOTOACVT was launched at Sweatshop stores across the UK this weekend

I headed up to my Local Sweatshop store to be one of the first in the UK to get hold of one of these and was rewarded with £80 worth of free accessories (Heart Rate Monitor, Armband etc) and also a voucher for £100 that can be spent on any Sweatshop running clothing. Not a bad deal considering I would have bought the MOTOACTV regardless!

The rest of this weekend has been spent doing yet more running as I start to put together the MOTOACTV review, which I should have ready by next weekend.

This coming week is looking pretty busy with various Christmas parties and nights out so I have no idea how I am going to squeeze in any cycles or swims other than a few quick laps of the local pool at lunch time or a quick spin in the office gym.
