Nike Structure Triax+ 14 Review

The Nike Structure Triax 14 is the workhorse out of the Nike support running shoe line. Although not as responsive as the new LunarGlide 3’s they are a solid training shoe that offer great support and cushioning as well as being much lighter than any of their Brooks or Asics rivals. This Nike Structure Triax 14 review is going to look at some of the main features of the shoe and explain why it is a great choice for grinding out lots of training miles.
Cushioning
Most road runners will agree that a shoe needs a certain level of cushioning to offer some sort of protection against the impact that running on hard surfaces causes. The Triax 14 offers foam cushioning along the entire length of the shoe as well as more responsive cushioning in the midsole and forefoot. This foam cushioning is lightweight and flexible which means that the shoe gives a high level of protection without the added weight or “clunkyness” of a conventional thick cushioning sole that features on other brands of running shoes.
Support and Stability
The Triax 14 features a medial post which offers a high level of support to flat footed runners. This arch support helps to control the foot’s tendency to roll outwards which relieves pressure on the ankle and lower legs for those runners who pronate.
All the support in the world isn’t going to make much difference to your running comfort unless your foot is held securely in place within the shoe. Something called a flywire is fitted across the laces of the shoe and keeps your foot locked down and entrenched within the heel. By embedding your foot within the shoe in this manner, the tendency for rear-foot motion is avoided, creating a secure fit at every stage of the gait cycle.
Comfort
A training shoe has to be comfortable as well as high performing. There is no point in spending upwards of $150 on a pair of trainers unless they are going to fit you like a glove and give you plenty of mileage for your buy. Nike have installed a sock liner within the shoe that molds to the shape of your foot and ensures a personalized fit that also reduces the scope for skin irritation when you are running. This sock liner also wicks away sweat and keeps your foot dry and cool when running in hot weather.
Nike Structure Triax 14 Review
So that rounds up this Nike Structure Triax 14 Review. A large amount of cushioning as well as support makes this show a great choice for runners looking for a lightweight support shoe. Although not as flexible or responsive as the Lunarglide 3, the more durable cushioning of the Triax 14 means that this shoe is more suited for long distance road running than racing.
