2010 Wrexham 10mile Race Report by guest blogger Moses Tutesigensi
This weekend was always going to be really difficult but I couldn’t have anticipated to be as difficult as it turned out to be. Saturday 24th started with missing the train but fortunately I had thought about my (in)ability to make trains so I had planned to get their two hours before the race but consequently made it with an hour to spare – the journey from Cardiff to Wrexham is rather quite pleasant and scenic.
The Wrexham 10 mile incorporates the North Wales 10 mile championships and because of that it is quite competitive. The course itself is a 2 lap reasonably flat. In perfect conditions I’d imagine the course to be fast and definitely has alot of PB potential. However, it does have a slight climb at about mile 4 and 9 – it’s a not a long or sharp one but it’s noticeable. The course traverses around the Wrexham Industrial estate which is mainly just the fields on one side of the road and a few buildings on the other so it is scenic. The timing of the event (14:00 race start) coupled with it being held on the hottest day of the year so far, and the fact that there was only one drinks station made it a very tough race. I found it very tough and lost significant amount of fluids, so I would suggest plenty of water is taken on board. I definetly will recommend this race to anyone and will be back next year. In case you’re interested I ran about 69mins and finished in 31st place.

Thanks for the comment Ashley. Definitely agree – after the weekend exploits I am going to be more cautious.
